Ceol / Music

Creideann pobail na scoile gur gné thábhachtach den cheol sa churaclam is ea an tslí ina spreagtar páistí iad féin a chur in iúl trí mheán an cheoil. Gan dabht de bhrí gur Gaelscoil sinn cuirtear an-bhéim ar chultúr agus ar thraidisiún. Foghlaimíonn gach dalta ó Rang 1 go Rang 6 an fheadóg stáin le béim ar fhoinn traidisiúnta. Spreagtar iad le huirlisí traidisúnta a fhoghlaim agus múintear amhráin traidisiúnta dóibh chomh maith.

Cuireann an ceol le forbairt phearsanta, shóisialta, mheabhrach agus fhisiceach an pháiste. Freastalaímd ar an dtrí shnáith den churaclam – éisteacht agus freagairt, léiriú agus cumadóireacht. Is minic do chór na scoile canadh agus seinnt in ionaid éagsúla sa cheantar agus is breá linn chomh maith fáilte a chur roimh cheoltóirí éagsúla a thagann go dtí an scoil le ceol a sheinnt dúinn. Cothaítear nasc láidir le tuistí na scoile agus is minic a bhíonn siad páirteach in imeachtaí na scoile ag seinnt, go háirithe ar Lá na Comaoine agus ag an gCóineartú.

In Scoil Gharbháin we believe that music is an important aspect of the curriculum and we encourage self-expression through music. As a gaelscoil a great emphasis is placed on our culture and Irish traditions. Children are introduced to basic tin whistle playing in First Class and this is mastered as they progress to senior classes. They have a wide repertoire of tunes on leaving Sixth class. This fosters personal, social, mental and physical development of the child. We teach music through the three strands of the curriculum - listening and responding, performing and composing. The school choir often sing and play instruments at local events, and we also enjoy welcoming a variety of musicians to our school to play for us. Parental involvement is encouraged during the school year at events for example our First Holy Communion and Confirmation.

Ealaín / Art

Teastaíonn uainn sa scoil seo againne meas ar fhéinléiriú a chothú chomh maith le léirthuiscint chriticiúil ar ealaín, chun go mbainfí sásamh agus taitneamh pearsanta as. Creidimíd gur chóir féinmhuinín agus féinmheas an pháiste a threisiú tríd an ealaín. Déanaimíd é sin trí na snáithe líníocht, péint agus dath, prionta, cré, tógáil agus fabraic. Bíonn obair na bpáistí le feiscint sa scoil agus go háitiúil, agus spreagtar na páistí chun a bheith páirteach i gcomórtaisí ealaíne áitiúla agus náisiúnta.

Opportunities of self-expression are provided in order to encourage critical evaluation of art and artists and ensure personal development. Art is another medium through which the child gains self-confidence and self-respect. We explore art through the following strands - drawing, paint and colour, print, clay, construction and fabric and fibre. Emphasis is always on the process and not the finished product. Children’s art work is displayed in the school and locally, and children are encouraged to enter local and national competitions.

Drámaíocht / Drama

Cabhraíonn an curaclam Drámaíochta le hinniúlacht agus le muinín an pháiste a fhorbairt. Is cuid thábhachtach de shaol na scoile é Ceoldráma na Nollag agus cuirtear é seo i láthair do phobal na scoile gach dara bliain. Taitníonn sé go mór leis na páistí agus cuireann sé go mór le féinmhuinín an pháiste. Ina theannta sin tugtar na daltaí go dtí ceoldrámaí is go gníomhachtaí drámaíochta áitiúla le linn na bliana agus glacann na daltaí ó ranganna éagsúla páirt i gComórtas Drámaíochta Gael-Linn.

The Drama curriculum provides opportunities to nurture and to develop our pupils’ confidence through self-expression. Our Christmas Play is presented to the whole school community bi annually which is a celebration of our children’s talents and a great introduction to the festive season. Our pupils attend local dramatic productions during the school year and they regularly participate in the Gael Linn Drama Festival for Primary Schools.
