Tá an scoil suite san oir-dheisceart grianmhar, i gCo. Phortláirge, i bparóiste Dhún na Mainistreach, atá suite ar theorainn bhaile Dhúngarbhán. Tá an scoil suite cois farraige le cosaint bhreá aici ó Shléibhte na gComarach. Is álainn go deo iad na radharcanna ón scoil ar Cheann Heilbhic agus cuan Dhúngarbháin. Tá foirgneamh na scoile agus an naíonra suite ar thalamh ceannaithe ag an Roinn Oideachais agus Eolaíochta ó na hAibhistínigh. Tá dhá chlós bhreá againn ar a mbíonn na páistí ag imirt ag am lóin.

Tá Meánscoil na nAibhistíneach suite díreach béal dorais linn. Tá an mheánscoil suite ar 43 acra agus abhainn an Choileagáin ag rith in aice le talamh an Choláiste. Is iontach an rud é dúinne anseo go bhfuil socrú idir an Coláiste agus an Scoil a thugann seans dúinn áiseanna an Choláiste a úsáid, ar nós páirc bhreá ar chúl na scoile, áis lúthchleasaíochta, halla gleacaíochta, halla, cúirteanna cispheile, agus is minic a thugtar na páistí ag siúl mórthimpeall ar thalamh an Choláiste ar shiúlóidí dúlra. Is mó an buntáiste iad na háiseanna seo a bheith ar fáil dúinn is sinn ag tabhairt faoi aidhmeanna an churaclaim.

Is de shiúl na gcos a théimid go dtí an Trá Gheal. Tá trá bhreá eile, Cluain Fhia, suite thimpeall dhá mhíle ón scoil thar dhroichead stairiúil. Tá cé bheag oiriúnach do bháid bheaga suite thimpeall míle soir ón scoil, i mBaile na Cúirte. Is ann a bhíonn spóirt uisce de gach saghas sa samhradh, seoladh, scíáil uisce agus tonnaíl uisce san áireamh. Ní fada uainn abhainn agus riasc, áit cháiliúil ina bhfeictear éanlaithe neamhghnátha. Is minic go bhfeictear daoine le déshúiligh ag síneadh thar an droichead ag faire ar feadh an lae ach braitheann sé seo ar an séasúr.

Tá dhá ionad súgartha breá poiblí sa bhaile. Tá leabharlann álainn nua, aerach suite ar an gcé. Tugann na páisti cuairt ar an leabharlann go minic le linn na bliana. Tógadh amharclann nua le déanaí. Tá iarsmalann bhreá againn ina bhfuil fáil ar an eolas ar fad a bhaineann le stair na timpeallachta. Tá caisleán an bhaile le feiscint go soiléir nuair a thugtar aghaidh ar an mbaile ó thaobh na farraige. Tógadh an caisleán seo le linn ré na Normannach agus is as seo a thagann an t-ainm Dúngarbhán. Sean-ainm do chaisleán is ea Dún. Tá an-chuid athchóirithe déanta ar an bhfoirgneamh le blianta beaga anuas agus tugtar na páistí ar cuairt ann go minic.

An Ghaeltacht

Tá an t-ádh linn go bhfuil an Ghaeltacht suite ocht míle ón scoil. Go minic tugann páistí na scoile cuairt ar an nGaeltacht le seans a thabhairt dóibh Gaoluinn a labhairt i gcomhluadar na bpáistí ón nGaeltacht, tugann sé seans dóibh chomh maith casadh ar dhaoine go bhfuil Gaoluinn acu ón gcliabhán agus Gaoluinn acu mar ghnáth-theanga an teaghlaigh. Tugtar cuairt ar Stáisún an Bháid Tharrthála agus tionscail áitiúla. Déantar turasanna stairúla dtí'n nGaeltacht chomh maith, mar shampla Reilig a' tSléibhe agus Leac na bhFíníní.

Glacann na páistí páirt i gcomórtaisí peile agus iománaíochta chomh maith i gColáiste na Rinne agus tugtar cuairt ar Mheánscoil San Nioclás, an meánscoil lán-Ghaelach. Tugann na cuairteanna seo deiseanna dos na páistí an Ghaeilge a labhairt lasmuigh de shuíomh na scoile, atá fíor-thábhachtach.

We are located in the sunny south east of the country, in Co. Waterford, in the parish of Abbeyside, which adjoins the town of Dungarvan. Dungarvan is a seaside town with a population of over 10,000 people. The school and the Naíonra are situated on land that was purchased by the Dept. of Ed. & Science from the Augustinians. We have two school yards, where the children play during their break times.

Saint Augustine's secondary school is located right next door to the school, on 43 acres of land, and the river Colligan borders the college on the south side. We are fortunate to have an arrangement with the college where by all the amenities in the college are at our disposal, a running track, gymnasium, auditorium, basketball courts, hurling and football pitches and we have permission to walk the grounds at any time on nature trails. These facilities prove a vital resource in delivering many areas of the curriculum.

We are located by the sea backed by the Comeragh Mountains with scenic views of Helvick Head and Dungarvan Bay to the front of the school. White strand is within walking distance. Clonea Strand, a blue flag beach, is two miles from the school and a small harbour in Ballinacourty suitable for pleasure boats is situated a mile from the school. This is a very popular spot for water sports such as water skiing, surfing and sailing. We are extremely fortunate to be in an area inhabited by rare birds in our rivers and marshes. As a result bird watchers sporting binoculars leaning over the Barnawee Bridge is a regular occurrence depending on the season.

The town of Dungarvan has two beautiful playgrounds which are open to the public and actively engage children of all ages. Our local library is located on the quay in Dungarvan. The children look forward to visiting the library many times during the year. The town now boasts a new theatre which is becoming a popular social amenity. We also have a museum, where in all information regarding the history of the locality can be accessed easily. A castle, seen as you enter the harbour, guarded the town in Norman times and hence the name 'Dungarvan' originated in its Irish formation 'Dún' meaning fort or castle. Works have been carried out on this historic building and the children have often visited the fort.

An Ghaeltacht

Rinn Ó gCuanach agus An Sean Phobal, a Gaeltacht area, is situated about eight miles from Scoil Gharbháin. Regular trips to the Gaeltacht are an important aspect of the school's culture which affords the pupils the opportunity of experiencing a taste of the Gaeltacht. This involves field trips to historical sites like Reilig a' tSléibh and Leac na bhFiníní, and geography field trips to the life boat station and local industries.

The children also have the opportunity to participate in sports tournaments in the Gaeltacht, visiting Meánscoil San Nioclás (the Irish-medium secondary school) and Coláiste na Rinne. These opportunities afford the children the pleasure of listening to Gaeilge being spoken, while also providing them with Irish language settings outside the school environment.
