Is bunscoil lán-Ghaelach measctha í Scoil Gharbháin ina dtuigimíd go bhfuil gach páiste uathúil agus é d'aidhm againn pearsantacht, intleacht agus talann na ndaltaí a fhorbairt. 'Sí an teanga Ghaelach agus an cultúr Gaelach bunchloch na scoile. Is córas tumtha atá i bhfeidhm sa scoil; nuair a thagann an páiste ar scoil i Naíonáin Bheaga nó sa Naíonra déantar iad a thumadh sa teanga.
Nósanna agus luachanna na Críostaíochta atá mar threoir ag na páistí. Is bunscoil Chaitliceach í, faoi choimirce Dheoise Phortláirge agus an Leasa Mhóir. Mar sin féin tugtar aitheantas inti do gach reiligiún is creideamh eile. Tuigimíd gur cuid den phobal na páistí agus go mbíonn an-tionchar ag an mbaile agus ag an dtimpeallacht ar a bhforbairt phearsanta. Tuigtear dúinn go mbeidh páirt lárnach ag na daltaí i gcultúr sóisialta agus eacnamaíochta an phobail go mórmhór sa todhchaí mar shaoránaigh Éireannacha.
Déantar gach iarracht freastal a dhéanamh ar fhorbairt phearsanta, ghairmiúil an mhúinteora ar bhonn aonair, mar fhoireann agus trí dheis a thabhairt dóibh freastal ar chursaí oideachais.
Déantar gach iarracht suim na dtuismitheoirí a mhúscailt agus a chothú trí Choiste na dTuismitheoirí agus trí theagmháil rialta idir an scoil agus an baile. Aithnímíd cearta na bpáistí agus na múinteoirí agus déantar gach iarracht cinntiú go bhfaigheann buachaillí, cailiní, mná agus fir cothrom na féinne i ngach gné den churaclam bunscoile.
Scoil Gharbháin is a mixed gender Gaelscoil; we appreciate and value the fact that every child is unique and our goal is to ensure that every child is given the opportunity to develop their personality, intelligence and talents to their full potential. The primary aim of the school is to educate the child through the medium of the Irish language. We use the immersion method of language acquisition in the school. Once the children arrive in the Naíonra / school they are totally immersed in Gaeilge.
Our children are guided by Christian morals and values. We are a Catholic school under the patronage of the Catholic Bishop of Waterford and Lismore, however all pupils are very welcome, regardless of creed or religion. We appreciate that every child is a member of the community and that home environment and local environment has a huge impact on their personal development. We appreciate and understand that each child will have a central role in the social culture and economy of the community, in particular in their futures as Irish citizens.
Every effort is made to promote and nurture the personal and professional development of our staff on an individual level and at a whole school level, by providing opportunities to staff members to attend continued professional development courses.
Every effort is also made, to promote and nurture parental involvement through our Parents’ committee and through maintaining regular and open communication between home and school. We recognise the rights of the children and the teachers, and every effort is made to ensure equal opportunities are afforded to boys, girl, women and men in every aspect of school life.
